Delivering high quality vocational education and training (VET) in schools requires more than curriculum knowledge. It demands strong industry currency, compliance confidence and a clear understanding of evolving career pathways for students.
At ReadCloudVET, we support trainers, teachers and VET Coordinators through curated Professional Learning events designed to strengthen teaching VET in schools. Through industry excursions, site visits, online workshops and webinars, our programs connect educators directly with industry leaders, helping schools deliver relevant vocational education courses while meeting compliance requirements under ASQA Standard 3.2.
Why Industry-Connected Professional Learning Matters
For schools delivering a VET in Schools program, maintaining trainer and assessor competency is essential. Under ASQA guidelines, trainers must demonstrate current industry skills and knowledge relevant to the vocational education and training they deliver.
Our professional learning calendar is designed to:
Strengthen industry currency for trainers
Support and keep schools aware of compliance requirements
Provide insights into emerging workforce trends
Enhance classroom delivery with real-world context
Expand understanding of career pathways for students
By connecting educators with employers, industry operators and leading practitioners, we help to ensure that vocational education courses remain authentic, engaging and aligned with workforce expectations.
Coming Soon: Term 1 Events 2026
In March, we will host several dedicated professional learning events designed to further upskill VET teachers across multiple industry areas.

Highlights From Our 2025 Events
Serving Up Fremantle Professional Learning Day

In December 2025, our Serving Up Fremantle VET Hospitality and Tourism professional learning day brought together trainers for an immersive industry experience in Western Australia.
The day included:
A behind the scenes visit to Rottnest Express, exploring diverse hospitality and tourism career pathways
A guided West End walking tour with Oh Hey WA
A taste and tour experience at Republic of Fremantle
A venue tour and industry discussion at GARDE with hospitality leader Tim Buckton
A presentation from Nicole Pearce of Duncraig SHS on building effective VET programs
Participants described the event as energising, practical and directly relevant to teaching practice.
“It was such a fabulous day! Really charged my batteries and very grateful to have had the opportunity. I've got 2 kids wanting to go to Rottnest Island for Work Experience!” Sandra Buzzard, Manjimup Senior High School
“The area of greatest value for me was the variety of industries we got to visit, and the informal conversations with industry stakeholders talking about their pathways. Being intimately aware of pathways is what fuels our promotion of industry to students, and I feel I've been fully stocked with options to pass onto our students.” Jack Mingay Robinson, Manjimup Senior High School
“The day was very informative, providing great insight into career options for students. I particularly enjoyed Nicole’s presentation about how things operate at their school — it was relatable and offered practical resources - [it is] valuable to continue having opportunities like this to see how VET programs work in schools and to take away useful resources.” Tijana Vlahov, Ocean Reef SHS
The consistent positive ratings reflect the value of giving educators direct access to industry voices and authentic workplace environments.
In The Mix: Audio Vision Industry Experience Melbourne

Our In The Mix Professional Learning Day provided VET Screen and Media and Music teachers with rare behind the scenes access to Boom Tracks Sound and Docklands Studios Melbourne.
Highlights included:
A hands-on sound design workshop with award winning sound editor Paul Pirola
Exploration of foley, mixing workflows and immersive audio techniques
Career pathway discussions with industry professionals
A guided studio tour and leadership discussion at Docklands Studios
Experiences like these ensure that teachers have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of emerging trends in the use of technology in the creative industries, and enjoy learning new skills that they can bring back to their classrooms.
The Art of Teaching: Perth
Our Art of Teaching professional learning day gave VET Visual Arts and Creative Industries educators the opportunity to explore street art and contemporary practice in Perth while translating those experiences into classroom application.
Participants highlighted the following benefits from the event:
Practical activities that can be transferred into the classroom
Curriculum aligned artist references
Valuable networking opportunities
When a participant was asked to provide details of what they found particularly beneficial in the workshop, they said: Providing time to see the art around Perth to be able to enhance our own teaching practice. To be able to reference artists and relate it to our tasks.
These events demonstrate how professional learning can directly enhance the quality and effectiveness of VET in schools programs by expanding educator confidence and creativity.
Online Professional Learning for VET in Schools
These showcases create space for schools to share practical insights into delivering high quality VET in Schools programs and a chance to celebrate both student and teacher achievements. Feedback from last year’s participants indicated that educators value the opportunity to see how other schools structure their courses, integrate technology and tailor their teaching in response to current employer and workplace expectations.
By enabling peer learning and industry connection online, these sessions play a powerful role in strengthening VET in Schools delivery across diverse settings.
